Following the previous series and after exhibiting the previous collection in a solo exhibition, a part of me was still searching for the lost meaning of the fish in relation to myself. A bodyless fish, with frozen eyes and an open mouth, converses with me. Perhaps a woman within me still has an unfinished conversation with this dead fish.
So, I created a series of photos, short videos, and paintings in the course of a conversation with the lifeless fish. In various cultures, fish symbolize birth and fertility. Women are also symbols of fertility and productivity.
However, the head of the fish is lifeless, like a dead woman. Isn’t this lifeless fish head a symbol of a woman who forgets herself due to the roles imposed on her by a male-dominated world?
This forgetfulness is equivalent to death.
Isn’t this lifeless fish head the forgotten woman within all women?
